Synopsis
The choreography deals with the strangeness everyone feels when they see themselves reflected in the mirror. The reflected image is always the same, but each person feels it in a different way, according to their experiences. "The mirror gives us the same image every day, but what you see is not always what you feel; your imagination can take you very far, but the mirror doesn't lie, the reflection is always the same." He participated for 15 years in Jiri Kylian's Nederlands Dans Theatre, one of the most important companies in the world, first as a dancer and then as choreographer-resident. Delcroix has participated in the works of great choreographers: Billy Forsythe, Mats Ek, Edouard Lock, Ohad Naharin, Nacho Duato, Hans van Manen, besides Kylian. From '90 on, he developed a series of choreographies for various European groups and since '92 has been teaching the NDT repertoire at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In 2001, Patrick Delcroix was made a Gentleman of Arts and Letters by the French government for his work in the world of dance. In addition to Reflecting in the Mirror, Delcroix has choreographed for Cisne Negro Cia. de Dança the ballets Além da Pele (1998) and Cherché, Trouvé, Perdu (2002).
