Synopsis
A whirlwind of rhythms that allows for different interpretations of a work that demonstrates the natural musicality of the Brazilian people. The peculiarity of this musical composition is that it was written by the French musician Darius Milhaud, who lived in Brazil in the 1910s. Few composers have so well captured the grandeur of our music. This curious title, both for the music and the ballet, is inspired by a very popular carnival march of that time. The original version of "O Boi no Telhado" premiered in Paris in 1920, achieving resounding success.
