THREE KINGS' DAY

2024

RELEASE

The invitation from the director of the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra, Martin Garcia, to develop a choreography based on the music "Mañana de Reyes" deeply moved me. January 6th is always remembered with much love in my family; my daughter and my wedding are celebrated on the same date, so what a joy to be able to develop a theme so full of blessings. "Mañana de Reyes" was a ballet created in 1937, but without any record. The date is a Christian tribute to the Three Wise Men who visited Jesus at his birth, recognizing his divinity, prosperity, and humanity. Just as the Three Wise Men "brought" gifts to the baby Jesus, children also bring them to Uruguay. The preparation for this celebration was and still is very important: on the eve, the children prepare hay and water for the Kings' camels and leave a pair of polished shoes nearby to receive their gifts.
