Synopsis
Iribiri, a groundbreaking creation for the company, was a collaboration with theater directors Chiquinho Medeiros and Zé Rubens Siqueira, representing a highly innovative project for its time. The work was a landmark for the company due to its dual approach to theater and dance, and its experimentation with musicality, where the cast danced over sound tracks produced by the performers themselves. Furthermore, the production resulted in “a baby conceived during rehearsals, a broken nose, and entire nights spent in the theater, something common among actors, but not dancers,” according to Hulda Bittencourt.
