Fernando Bujones
Fernando Bujones, one of the most important dancers in the world, the first American to win the gold medal at the International Ballet Competition (in 1974).
Born in Miami to Cuban parents, Bujones was married to Márcia Kubitschek (1943-2000). He gained fame at the American Ballet Theatre in ballets such as "Don Quixote," "Swan Lake," and "Giselle." For 30 years, he worked as a dancer, teacher, and choreographer, being compared to Rudolph Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov as one of the most important male ballet performers. He performed as a guest artist in 34 countries with more than 60 companies and shared the stage with ballerinas such as Natalia Makarova, Carla Fracci, and the Brazilian Ana Botafogo.
