Penha de Souza

Penha de Souza, from Rio de Janeiro, raised in Bauru/SP, in her 50-year career, has traveled a unique trajectory, from classical ballet to the Corrective Postural Stretching, a method she created from aspects of classical and modern dance and yoga techniques, RPG and Pilates. As a dancer, Penha danced in television specials for TV Tupi, TV Rio, Record and TV Paulista. She brought Graham's technique from New York/USA and was the choreographer of Cisne Negro Cia. de Dança (in São Paulo/SP), having created the group's first show: Pulsationin 1977. Penha worked and contributed to the recognition of dance as a profession in Brazil. He was a founding member of the Associação Paulista de Profissionais da Dança (APPD), currently the Sindicato dos Profissionais da Dança do Estado de São Paulo (Sinddança).
