Crôa Wins Governor of the State Award for the Arts 2025

On a night recognizing artistic expression from São Paulo, the choreography "Crôa," created by choreographer Simone Ferro and performed by Cisne Negro Dance Company, won the São Paulo State Governor's Trophy in the Dance category during the ceremony held at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, this Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

The company, celebrating its 48th anniversary, was represented at the event by its artistic director, Dany Bittencourt, who took to the stage to receive one of the most prestigious cultural awards in the country. The trophy, exclusively designed by architect Ricardo Ohtake, symbolizes the joy and freedom promoted by culture.

The award, promoted by the State Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industries, recognizes proposals that make a difference in the construction and appreciation of São Paulo's artistic identity. This year, "Crôa" stood out for the sensitive and vibrant vision of Simone Ferro, marking another important chapter in the history of Cisne Negro Dance Company, a nationally and internationally renowned group in the field.

For the company's management, the recognition not only validates the excellent work developed by the artists, but also inspires and motivates future creators in the dance scene.

Under the artistic direction of José Possi Neto, the ceremony also included the presence of the Secretary of Culture of the State of São Paulo, Marília Marton, as well as award winners from various other categories besides Dance, such as Literature, Music, Visual Arts, Theater, Cinema, among others, consolidating the event as a tribute to the cultural agents who transform, innovate and represent the cultural richness of Brazil.
