Synopsis
Expect the Unexpected: Explores the passion, sensuality, and artistry of the dancers for whom it was created. The choreographic intention is to showcase the vast similarities in technical prowess, virtuosity, line, texture, and intention in movement, while highlighting the different, yet beautiful, understanding of self-confidence, aspiration, and creativity. Created through an extensive two-week residency in Brazil, which generated significant moments of appreciation and reflection on the personalities, desires, and interests of the artists, the work seeks to show a more personal perspective of the dancers who form the basis of the world-renowned Cisne Negro Dance Company.

Maria Caruso

Maria Angelica Caruso is a Pittsburgh native dancer, choreographer, academic, and entrepreneur known for her multifaceted contributions to humanity and dance. Caruso's businesses encompass a professional dance company, a dance conservatory, a fitness program, and a dance movement therapy system, all under the Bodiography brand. Focused on inclusion within the arts ecosystem, she maintains Bodiography's vision while investing in higher education, directing creative and innovative initiatives in the Performing Arts Department at La Roche University. M-Train Productions is Caruso's foray into commercial production within the creative sector.
As a dramatic stage performer, Caruso is best known for her critically acclaimed solo show, Metamorphosis, which began off-Broadway in 2021 and followed with a global tour in London's West End in the summer of 2022.
