Synopsis: Dancers from Cisne Negro Dance Company, musical performance: André Mehmari (Piano) and Luca Raele (Clarinet). A controlled challenge between musicians and dancers. ABACADÁ seems to be a term of indigenous origin, the name of an Amazonian fruit or a small bird. But it is simply the basic representation of the formal structure of the composition, a traditional Rondo. Each letter represents a part of the composition, with A – the 'main theme', or refrain in this case – followed by contrasting parts (B, C and D). In this project, the improvisation (BCD) comments on and complements the more rigorous writing of the refrain. The dance, therefore, reflects this musical dynamic, having an improvised solo or duet for each contrasting part, valuing the active dialogue between musicians and dancers.
